Align Technology, a global maker of medical devices for dentistry, announced that it will open a manufacturing facility in Wroclaw that will produce its Invisalign clear aligners for orthodontics.
As it explained, it wants to address a large and underpenetrated market opportunity in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, and bringing Align’s operational facilities closer to customers is an element of its strategy.
The factory in Wroclaw will be Align’s first in the EMEA and its third worldwide after Juarez, Mexico and Ziyang, China. It is expected to begin operations in early 2022. By 2024, it will support all Invisalign case shipments in the EMEA. It will create 2,500 jobs by the end of 2025. The US company already has a treatment planning facility in Wroclaw for the Invisalign system, one of three such sites in Europe along with Madrid and Cologne.
