According to data published by the Ministry of Health, nearly 780,000 tests for coronavirus infection were performed in Poland. More than a quarter of them were carried out in the Mazowieckie voivodeship.
Over 3,000 infected miners
A total of 210,000 tests were conducted in the Mazowieckie voivodeship. In the second Wielkopolskie voivodeship, more than twice as few such tests were carried out. In the Slaskie voivodship, where mass testing of miners in mines is carried out (in connection with large outbreaks of infections), nearly 69,000 tests were performed. It should be stressed, however, that the presented data refers to the provinces where the samples were tested and not to the provinces where swabs were taken. A significant part of the samples taken from miners in Silesia are tested in laboratories outside the province, hence the number of tests does not reflect the actual scale of cases diagnosed there.
In total, as of May 25th morning, the COVID-19 infection was confirmed in nearly 3,400 miners in Silesia. They constituted almost half of the infections diagnosed in this province.
In Poland, coronavirus infection (based on molecular tests) has been confirmed so far in 21,600 patients. At the same time, almost half of these people or 10,000, have been found to be cured. About 2,200 people are hospitalised and 79,000 are quarantined.
