Coronavirus: Children constitute less than 8% of patients in Poland

Poland is ranked on the 16th place in Europe in terms of the number of COVID-19 cases. Epidemiological data, given by the head of GIS at the Friday’s Cabinet Council on coronavirus, indicate a low percentage of children with COVID-19. Six months after the outbreak in Poland, coronavirus Sars-Cov-2 was confirmed in over 69 thousand people.

Coronavirus: the average age of the deceased in Poland is 75.7 years

In Poland, until 3 September, 69,129 people were positively affected by COVID-19, 2,092 of whom died. According to the head of the GIS, 47% of patients with coronavirus affected women. Women also constitute a similar percentage among victims (46%). Importantly, children accounted for 7.6% of all cases and no deaths were recorded among them. The youngest person who lost the fight against COVID-19 in our country was 18 years old and the oldest was 99 years old.

As far as the geographical areas of Poland are concerned, the coronavirus has been most experienced by the inhabitants of Silesia, where 21,000 COVID-19 patients were reported by 3 September. However, as the head of GIS, Jaroslaw Pinkas, emphasized, the situation in this province has been stable for two weeks and the number of active patients is decreasing.
