The coronavirus has undoubtedly changed the reality that surrounds us. The COVID-19 vaccine will certainly make it easier to combat this virus, especially at a time when the number of cases that have recently spread in our country is increasing. It is possible that the vaccine will appear in Poland later this year.

Will the government buy 20 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine?

According to Dziennik Gazeta Prawna , under the first agreement, Poland may receive around 20 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine. The government’s official position on this matter is unknown. All that is known is that the vaccine is to be administered first to the most vulnerable groups, including people with coexisting diseases, seniors and medical workers.

According to the information provided by the newspaper, the government is not planning compulsory vaccination. The vaccine will be recommended by the Ministry of Health and financed by public funds.

Vaccine for a quarter of Poles, is that enough?

The vaccine in the first phase will probably cover 9-10 million Poles, as stated in the DGP article. At the same time, it is worth noting that the PZH published in July the results of the survey, which shows that only 37% of Poles would take the COVID-19 vaccine if it was available. 28% of respondents declared that they would not use the vaccine, and 34% of people had no opinion.

The survey was conducted between 2-9 June 2020 on a representative group of 1,066 people using the CAWI method by the Medical University of Warsaw and the University of Warsaw in cooperation with ARC Rynek i Opinia.
