DOZ chain of pharmacies will acquire Medix

DOZ SA submitted an application to the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection for permission to take over Medix Sp. z o.o. DOZ SA operates the largest chain of pharmacies in Poland. The acquired entity has its registered office in Tczew. It has 18 active pharmacies which already operate under the name DOZ.

According to our estimates, DOZ is also the second largest chain in Central Europe. The analysed region includes Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Hungary. Among the countries mentioned above, DOZ operates only in Poland. In addition, PMR’s data show that the market leader in Central Europe is Dr. Max, who owns pharmacies in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Romania.

Poland is ranked among the Central European countries in terms of pharmacy density in terms of population. There is one pharmacy per 2 600 inhabitants. It is worth noting that it is the same as the average for the region, results from PMR analysis.
