Grupa Nowy Szpital (GNS), one of the largest non-public hospital operators in Poland, is interested in taking over the Szpital w Debnie im. Swietej Matki Teresy z Kalkuty Sp. z o.o. (Holy Mother Teresa of Calcutta Hospital in Debno).

Hospital in Debno with debt PLN 8 million

As announced at the end of 2018, GNS wants to grow through acquisitions. The target of the company is Szpital w Debnie im. Swietej Matki Teresy z Kalkuty Sp. z o.o. (Holy Mother Teresa of Calcutta Hospital in Debno). According to Radio Szczecin, the company has made an official offer to purchase the facility to the starost of the Mysliborski County. The condition for a possible takeover is, however, repayment of the debt, which already amounts to over PLN 8m.

According to the information provided by the radio station, the biggest problem of the Hospital in Debno is its debts to suppliers. They amount to PLN 2.5m, but some of them will be repaid. Over PLN 1m will be transferred for this purpose by the county and the commune, which will make it possible to settle pre-court and due liabilities.

GNS will enter the new voivodeship?

GNS is one of the largest non-public hospital operators in Poland. Currently, it operates 10 facilities with a total of nearly 1.7 thousand beds. Half of them are co-owned by local government units. The Group’s hospitals operate in three provinces: Lubuskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Malopolskie. A possible takeover of the Hospital in Debno would allow the Group to enter the new Zachodniopomorskie region.

According to PMR data, the Hospital in Debno has over 150 beds. It runs the following departments: surgical, gynaecological-obstetrics with neonatology, paediatric and internal diseases. The hospital also has a care and treatment facility. The company is owned by nearly 70% of the Mysliborski County. The remaining shares are held by the Commune of Debno.
