On Monday, at the University Hospital in Krakow, sextuplets were born. This is probably the first such case in Poland.

Sextuplets in every 4.7bn pregnancies

The delivery of six-children on Monday before noon was received by doctors from the University Hospital in Cracow. The pregnancy was terminated in the 29th week by a caesarean section. Neonates – four girls and two boys – weighed from 890 to 1300 grams. They all stay in incubators, but their condition is described by doctors as good.

This is the first such birth in Poland and one of the few in the world. Sextuplets occur once in every 4.7 billion pregnancies. For understandable reasons, such pregnancies are burdened with a high risk.

Interestingly, in 2008 quintuplets were born in the same hospital.
