LUX MED Group, one of the largest private healthcare providers in Poland, has returned to the acquisition trail. On 25 June it announced that it has acquired HIFU Clinic, a prostate cancer center in Warsaw. The value of the transaction was not disclosed. The acquisition is part of the LUX MED Group’s plan to develop its hospital services.

The transaction with HIFU Clinic is another recent acquisition in the hospital services segment of the LUX MED Group. In 2020, St Elizabeth Hospital Mokotowskie Centrum Medyczne Sp. z o.o. and Citomed Clinics strengthened the company’s ranks.

This is a very important moment in Grupa Lux Med’s development. It broadens our range of hospital services to include highly specialised urology and medical robotics. This is the future of our sector, which we are helping to make now, said Anna Rulkiewicz, President of the LUX MED Group.

HIFU Clinic – urology at a high level

HIFU Clinic bills itself as the first center in Poland dedicated to the comprehensive diagnostics and modern treatment of prostate cancer. It says it uses all of the available treatment methods, including da Vinci, the surgical robot, and laparoscopic surgery, and is a European leader in modern prostate cancer diagnostics, performing transperineal prostate fusion biopsy using the latest generation Trinity Koelis system for flexible real-time image fusion. It also performs other, modern, minimally invasive urological procedures, including e.g. laparoscopic surgery of kidney tumours and bladder tumours. It employs 25 doctors.

Dr Marek Filipek, head of HIFU Clinic’s medical team, noted that HIFU Clinic has always been synonymous with professionalism and innovation, which will now be combined with the scale of the LUX MED Group. He also indicated that becoming part of the LUX MED Group opens up huge new opportunities for HIFU Clinic and ensures its further development.

It is worth mentioning that the Carolina Medical Center hospital, which belongs to the LUX MED Group, and the HIFU Clinic Prostate Cancer Treatment Centre established cooperation in the provision of urological services for patients with urological and uro-oncological diseases in July 2019. At that time, a urology department was established within the Carolina Medical Center hospital as a result of this collaboration.
