Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has received an application for permission to acquire control of a large pharmacy chain – Euro-Apteka. As part of the concentration, DOZ will become their owner.

In the announced transaction, DOZ SA wants to take control over Euro-Apteka sp. z o.o., Super Zdrowie sp. z o.o. and MLV 18 sp. z o.o. By acquiring these companies, the company will also become the owner of Apteka Polonez sp. z o.o., Apteka 36.6 sp. z o.o. and Savima sp. z o.o., which belong to the acquired companies.

Euro-Apteka Sp. z o.o. had 51 pharmacies at the end of 2019. The company’s revenue from the sale of goods amounted to approximately PLN 137m in 2019, down 6% year-on-year. It is worth noting that drug sales in 2019 accounted for 72% of Euro-Apteka Sp. z o.o.’s revenues, of which 41% of total sales were prescription drugs.

DOZ: Largest pharmacy chain in Poland

The DOZ pharmacy chain belongs to the Pelion Group and is managed by DOZ SA. The chain consists of about a thousand pharmacies and is the largest chain present on the pharmaceutical market in Poland. Some of the pharmacies operate on a franchise basis.

The capital group, to which DOZ belongs, operates at every level of trading in medicinal products, medical devices, dietary supplements and cosmetics.
