Improving economic situation in the coming years will support the growth of the dietary supplements market

According to PMR study, in 2021 and in the following years the development of the dietary supplements market will be supported by an improvement in the economic situation. The crisis will pass and Poles will again be able to afford more expensive products, not only those necessary for basic needs. These include dietary supplements,  some of which are sold even for a few hundred PLN per pack. In turn, the opening of gyms, permission to organise sports events and the return to physical activity in general will have an impact on the revival of the market for nutritional supplements for physically active people.

Another factor stimulating sales will be the growing trend for health care among Poles, as well as an increase in the scale of certain health problems due to pandemics (e.g. obesity), and an increase in the incidence of illnesses due to neglected diagnostic tests and medical visits during pandemics, e.g. of the cardiovascular system (supplements to support the functions of this system).

According to PMR’s latest forecasts, this market is expected to grow by 7.7% in 2021, to PLN 6.4bn in final prices (all sales channels). Among the channels analysed by PMR, sales in pharmacies are expected to grow at the slowest rate (the analysis covers the online channel – pharmacies, shops and platforms, non-pharmacy channel – stationary shops, such as nutrition shops, drug shops, sports shops, herbalists and the pharmacy channel).Wartość i dynamika rynku suplementów 2021 - ENG-01
