Of the approximately 2.3 thousand pharmacies in Hungary, 80-90% belong to chains or other pharmacy programs such as franchising, purchasing group or marketing partnership, according to OGYEI data quoted by the Network Pharmacy Association (HGYSZ).
“The number of such pharmacies is still growing, especially in cities. However, this trend has slowed down recently because most pharmacies that wanted to join a cooperation programme have already done so,” said Janos Zlinszky, Vice President of HGYSZ.
