Nicole Sochacki-Wójcicka, a well-known Warsaw gynaecologist and obstetrician, raised PLN 1.2 million for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP). The doctor donated the total income from the sale of her two e-books, which are her autobiographical stories, to the WOSP. The sale took place through social media, where she acts as an @magynecologist.

Sochacki-Wójcicka carried out a similar campaign last year. At that time, she donated 10 zlotys for each book sold in a paper version. It was then that she managed to collect tens of thousands of zlotys.  After converting the book into e-books, the action was much more successful.

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is a foundation whose main goal is to provide health care services. During the annual Finals of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, which take place in January, funds are collected for a pre-determined purpose, usually related to children’s health. The aim of this year’s finals was to purchase modern medical equipment for specialist children’s hospitals. In 2019, over 92 million zlotys were collected, as of 14 January. However, when the funds from all auctions come in, the total amount will probably be higher than in 2018. At that time it was over 126 million PLN.

In total, since 1993, over PLN 1 billion has been collected as part of the action.
