According to a survey conducted by PMR for the purposes of the report, the main factor stimulating the development of the market for laboratory diagnostics services in Poland is the increase in the awareness of physicians in the context of ordering tests (27% of indications). Almost every fifth respondent (18%) also points to the key role of raising patients’ awareness of the importance of diagnostics and health prophylaxis. Both these factors are perceived as more important by private rather than public laboratories (difference of several percentage points).
Almost one in four respondents (23%) believe that the growing level of EU investment and funding has a positive impact on the health of the industry. The positive impact of this factor is seen in particular by public hospital laboratories (35%), which is not surprising given that hospitals are a significant beneficiary of EU funds.
